When to Finish . . .

finish-line

It is Monday morning and as I sit here trying to decide which of my three projects to work on today, it seemed like a good time to share a little priority management, or maybe I should call it ‘Delinda self management’.

I have three big projects that I need to handle, take care of…Do.  My nature is to do the things I like to do first, and put off the others.  Unfortunately, the ‘others’ then begin to ‘grow’ in my head until they feel totally overwhelming.  Do you ever feel that way?  That’s when I take a look at them and begin to break it down and decide when to start, but more importantly, when to finish.

  1. Organize the garage so I can move everything out of the local storage area and into it. Since I need to get the Christmas decorations out of storage anyway, it seems like a good time to do it AND they raised the rent on the storage by 25%… yikes! Yep, it looks like more releasing, because I know it is not all going to fit.

  2. Edit videos from a couple of the Fun Fearless Female events and post on website (This is my favorite one to do, even though I am just learning how to do it, and it takes a while. Actually it takes hours on the computer and a lot of focus, but I like it and the results).

  3. Begin preparing for the Nevada Real Estate course and test.  (I am having to do some major mental adjustments for this one.)  Many of you know I have been a Broker in Kansas for some 35 years, and it is time to get licensed here in Nevada. In our family I am the ‘test taker’ for our management company. Bill runs the company and it must be licensed in each state where we do business, so it is important to do. However, my mind has to do the mental shift from ‘book learning and test-taking’, to creative and fun.  Like many things it was easier in my 30s than it is now.  Can anyone out there relate???

All of this to say, we when look at the choices of things to do and accomplish, it helps to put a time frame around it.  Sometimes we may have to shift or extend the time-frame, but we come closer to getting the job done if we do.  For example, the ‘storage area’, the rent goes up December 1st, so I can choose to pay the new amount for a month or two, or I can choose to get it done by end of November.

Some of the video footage I have has been in my computer for a year… I know, pretty bad huh?  The new footage from the Las Vegas Event is fresh and inspires me to get it posted by the end of this week. The Nevada Law class and the RE test… I’m giving it until the end of the year.

For me, setting those time frames helps me focus, adjust my daily schedule, and feel like I am making progress.

So today, I am going to spend 1-2 hours in the garage, shifting, moving, eliminating, etc. during the day hours when it is nice outside, work a few hours on the videos in the later afternoon and evening, and the RE…. maybe tomorrow.  Ha, Ha,Ha! OK, so tomorrow I’ll get up and spend the morning, 3-4 hours on the RE law class.

Go out and make it a great day!

‘Til next time –

Blessings-

Delinda

Don’t Worry – Be Happy

th-4

Don’t worry – Be happy!  Remember that song, it’s kinda funky and fun.  It’s makes you feel good just to listen to it, that beat and the whistles.  Interestingly it is an a cappella song, no instruments.  I guess I never really paid attention to that, just listened to it and enjoyed. (from Wikipedia The “instruments” in the a cappella song is entirely overdubbed voice parts and other sounds made by McFerrin, using no instruments at all.) Pretty cool, huh?
Fun, yes, but pretty profound too –
In every life we have some trouble
When you worry you make it double
Don’t worry, be happy

Or as the Bible says…
  • Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? (Matthew 6:27 Biblegateway)
This is a concept that many find really hard to live out.  I think that sometimes we feel that if we ‘worry’ we are showing that we care, or we think ‘we’ can control it if we are ‘worrying’ about it.  Both of these are an illusion.
Worry is negative energy that feeds on itself.  The more we worry, the more worried and upset, and anxious we are.  It can get so overwhelming that it’s easy to become paralyzed, and that is a totally non-productive and unpleasant place to be. So why do we do it?  Good question.
Let’s look again –
  • [ Do Not Worry ] “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? … (Matthew 6:25-34)
  • Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (Philippians 4:6)

It’s simple but not easy.
  • Take your eyes OFF the problem, turn to God who is in control
  • Pray
  • Speak positive things into your spirit, speak the Word
  • Look carefully and see what you can do to change the problem or situation, if there is nothing you can do about it then release it
  • Release the worry and anxiety
  • Put it on the back shelf of your brain, not front and center (It isn’t going to magically disappear, but it gets smaller when you ‘move’ it)
  • Think on the good things – be grateful

Or simply …

Don’t worry – Be happy

( and pray)

YES! He Is!

christian-easter-sunset-cross-risen-copy

WOW!  What a glorious day!   I love Easter! It’s my favorite holiday!  A celebration of life and hope!

YES! He is Alive!

         YES! He is Risen! Hallelujah!

                YES! He is Lord!

If it weren’t for Easter, there would be no need for Christmas. Jesus would be just some other prophet or teacher. But He lives!

Yes! He is Everything!

I have a song I want to share with you.  I promise that I won’t be putting music and songs for all my posts, but I can’t resist during this special and holy time. I’m a singer, I love to worship and praise our Risen Lord – just can’t help myself.  (Next week I’ll get back to my regular writing.)

The beautiful music and orchestration in the following song was written by Larry Walker, for a citywide Easter sunrise service here in Las Vegas.  The words are the Lord’s, given to me. Thank you Jesus! Lord, You Are!  Everything!

 YOU ARE!

Have a wonderful and blessed Easter!

Want Truth – Read It

Noah2014Poster

If you want to see a movie, a story about a man, a big boat, a Hollywood interpretation, and enjoyable entertainment, then go see NOAH. Here’s what the description says,

Noah is a 2014 American epic biblical-inspired fantasy film directed by Darren Aronofskywritten by Aronofsky and Ari Handel, and loosely based on the story of Noah’s Ark.

They aren’t claiming it is a anything other than what it is – a “fantasy film”… “loosely based…”

For the Truth, the real story and happenings, read it in the Word – the Bible.  That’s where we find the story of Noah.  (Genesis 6:8 – 8:17).  This is what we can share with those who don’t know the Truth.

There’s a lot of talk about the movie.  My hope is that as it raises interest and questions, that it will draw people to the Truth and search for the real story of Noah.  My personal review, and only my opinion, is that this is a good movie.  Russell Crowe did a great job, as well as the other actors.   I’m not overly fond of some of the make up,  haircuts, and costumes (sorry but my brain thinks this way).  But overall a good show.  When ‘they’ say ‘Loosely based…”  that is exactly what it is, very loosely.

Here are a  few little tidbIts to share.

  • It is almost laughable how they interpret the ‘fallen angels’ and what the story surrounding them.

  • In the movie Noah’s sons were young, and two were not married.  (Genesis 7:7:  And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood.)

  • The people were evil for sure, no escaping that, and God, ‘The Creator’, was punishing mankind for all the evil.

  • The ruling king in the time was pure evil, he distorted scripture, and many times said he was created in The Creator’s image, and therefore he (the king) was god.  His pride and arrogance was astounding. What catches you is that it isn’t subtle, it is in your face.  But then again, that is why God brought the flood.  The world was evil. Genesis 6:5  The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time

  • The coolest thing was how they presented the animals coming to the ark.  Very cool and made sense. They just came, the birds flocked to the ark in the same way that they know to migrate.  The other animals just came.  This was probably my favorite part.

It has a lot interesting twists, and certainly doesn’t follow scripture.  BUT for a movie it was good. Believers out there, let’s lighten up a little.  This is a movie, it’s Hollywood, and people are talking.

Consider this.   It gets conversation going, makes people talk, and when they talk they may be looking for answers.  We have the opportunity to tell them the truth, point them in the right direction.  It gives us a chance to share, and I think that is a good thing.

It’s all in how we look at it.  If you want entertainment, a movie, then go see Noah.  If you want the real story- the Truth, read the Book =)  (Genesis 6:8 – 8:17)

Til Next Time. . .

HAVE A BLESSED DAY !

40 Days of Love … Kindness

lent-3
LENT – I was raised in the Baptist Church, Southern Baptist, to be exact, and we never really talked about Lent, the 40 days of preparation, or ‘giving up’ something during that time.  I had friends that went to the Catholic Church, and they would always give up something during that time to focus on preparation and to take a little more time in prayer.  Somehow I just didn’t ‘get it’.

As I continue on my spiritual journey, I find I want to spend a little time and more focus during this time.  When I lived in Chicago my neighbor Susie and I went to a Non-Denom church where I grew more in understanding and decided to make some changes and decisions about what I’d like to do during this time.
So I decided to ‘give up’ something, but I also decided to follow an idea my friend Joy shared with me.  She ‘Gives’ something of herself each day of Lent.  I love that.  She does a random act of kindness each day.   So I decided to do ‘something special’,  a ‘kindness’, share a little of His love each day.  It may be to a stranger, friend , or family member, maybe write a card of encouragement or call someone I know needs a friend.  I pray God will move in my spirit and show me ways to do this.  Jesus took these 40 days and because of His love for us, he walked to the cross.  I want to think about that, remember that, and show a little more love to others.

Honestly, I have missed a few days, ALREADY, but I know that I am not condemned.  I will continue on, and I think I’ll add a day after Easter for each one I miss.  Ummmmm, maybe this is a habit that will continue throughout the year.  Right now, it’s forty days until Easter… plus the ones I add on.

Just thought I’d let you know.
