Who do you want to be?

Hot-Fudge-SundaeOkay, this is what I’m talking about =)  Yummy hot fudge sundae with a little brownie on the side!

(Would love to have it but decided to wait on actually eating it… so enjoying the picture)

Thanks for all the wonderful birthday wishes.

It truly made my day!

As I was looking at the various greetings, there were a number from my friends at Louisiana College, what fun to hear from them… if that is you, thanks again.

Seeing the notes from my college friends reminded me of a special time, an AH HA moment, I had while in college.  I was a cheerleader (yea I know, big surprise =)  We were all standing around and I  heard some girls talking. What I heard changed my life.  One of them said “You know that Jackie Holsomback… I’ve never heard her say a bad word about anyone.”

WOW – Right then I decided I wanted people to think that way about me and to make that a priority. Since that day I have made it a point to look for good and say only good about others.

Jackie was indeed a wonderful gal.  I don’t know if I ever told her about that incidence, but I hope I did.  She is no longer with us, she is singing and ‘cheering’ in heaven now. Jackie made a positive difference to me,  her friends, family, and all those around her.  What a legacy!  (January 18 was also her birthday)

 . . .

Who do you want to be? What do you want others to say about you? When they say your name, what characteristic do they think about?

It’s a choice.  We can decide today ‘who we want to be”, what kind of person, how we live our life. We can decide to change a pattern by starting a new one… just Decide.

. . .

Isn’t it great to have so many choices? Colorballoons15

God’s NOT Dead…

Gods NOT Dead

How far would you go…to defend your belief in God?

While in Kansas City I had a few hours to fill while waiting for some friends and decided to go to a movie. I am so glad I did.  I left feeling uplifted and proud to be a Christian, and wanting to share this story… and His story.

Present-day college freshman and devout Christian, Josh Wheaton (Shane Harper), finds his faith challenged on his first day of Philosophy class by the dogmatic and argumentative Professor Radisson (Kevin Sorbo). Radisson begins class by informing students that they will need to disavow, in writing, the existence of God on that first day, or face a failing grade. As other students in the class begin scribbling the words “God Is Dead” on pieces of paper as instructed, Josh find himself at a crossroads, having to choose between his faith and his future. Josh offers a nervous refusal, provoking an irate reaction from his smug professor. Radisson assigns him a daunting task: if Josh will not admit that “God Is Dead,” he must prove God’s existence by presenting well-researched, intellectual arguments and evidence over the course of the semester, and engage Radisson in a head-to-head debate in front of the class.

That is a pretty daunting assignment.  He is tested, rejected, and alienated from his friends and family.  Wouldn’t it be easier to just write the words down… whether you mean it or not?

It’s a movie that makes you think.  What would I do? How can I make more of a difference?  How would I stand up to rejection? Could I make a case FOR Christ?

Then there is a the challenge at the end…. if you believe it – sent it out…

So my friends here it is

God’s NOT Dead!

Hallelujah and Amen!  We are approaching the passion week, the death and Resurrection of Jesus – WOW!  God’s NOT Dead, He is alive, in our hearts, and changing the world!

Here is the theme song from the movie – Enjoy and be blessed!

(OH, and I found it really interesting, at the end of the movie,  there is a list of court cases where Christians are trying to be treated equally, and where their ‘rights’ are being violated, similar to what is shown in this film. Ummm, freedom of religion to all groups… except Christians… but that is another blog for another day)
