Bumble bees are really quite amazing. They have this big fat body and little tiny wings. Now, you may know, or have heard this before, and if you are in Mary Kay, I know you have. I like to remember it when I get stuck, or begin to doubt myself.
Aerodynamically, the bumble bee should not be able to fly, those tiny wings remember. However, the bee doesn’t know it can’t, or that it shouldn’t, so it keeps flying anyway. Isn’t that the best? We, too, need to follow the example of the bumble bee, and do it anyway.
Many times we begin to doubt God’s call in our life, because it hasn’t happened yet, or because it seem insurmountable, or because the people we love tell us the dream or the goal is too big. Maybe you are told you aren’t smart enough, or don’t have the skills to do it, or that you are just plain crazy. Yikes! Those words hurt us and hold us back. If we are told those things long enough, we can begin to believe it, and stop reaching and stop dreaming.
The truth is – you do have what it takes.
Whatever God calls us to do, He will instruct us, guide us, and prepare the way. All through the Bible are stories of how God prepared the way for His people. The one we most remember is the Israelites going into the Promise Land, but that is just one example. There are many stories of God’s lessons, provision, and how He enables and prepares those He has called. Has He changed? No! He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
Think of the bumble bee who goes on flying everyday, not knowing what he should or should not be able to do. Let’s go out and do it anyway too. Let’s say ‘No’ to the external voices, and the voice inside our head that feeds us negative self talk, and decide today to only listen to God’s voice — and keep on flying.
Blessings!

QUESTION: What is it that you want to do, feel called to do? Do you have people who tell you that you can’t do it? What do you think about the bumble bee?
