Isn’t it great – CHRISTMAS! I love this season of the year. First and most importantly I love that we take this time to celebrate the birth of Jesus our Savior, Redeemer, Peace of Peace, Emmanuel. I love the lights and decorations, I love the RED– it is so full of life and makes me smile. I love to watch children’s eyes light up, to hear them giggle, and get excited. Now of course, I do realize that not everyone loves Christmas. There are a lot of hurting people who have lost loved ones, who have painful memories, etc. My heart goes out to them and I want to share the love of Jesus with them. I want them to know that Jesus love can heal the hurts, His love can overcome all of the negativity, the meanness, and the pain. You are loved!
I had an interesting conversation with a friend today. She is feeling a little stressed and gets offended when people ask “Are you ready for Christmas?” Why you ask? It makes her feel guilty, and like something is wrong with her because she still has things to do, etc. As we talked about it I began to understand her feelings and we decided that having something different to say might be a good idea.
When someone asks ‘Are you ready for Christmas? Here were a few of our thoughts that have nothing to do with shopping and buying.
-
YES – I love Christmas and all that goes with it (Only say it if you really mean it)
-
YES – I’ve been singing Christmas music for a month and feel in the spirit
-
YES – I have things to do, but I am ready for it.
-
YES – isn’t it a great time of year!
-
YES – my heart is ready, even though I have a few more things to do.
OR
