Stop Believing the Lies You’re Telling Yourself …

 

STOP Believing the Lies You are Telling Yourself

and Choose to Speak Truth!

When you do:

  • You can Move On

  • You can Have Joy

  • You can Move Forward

  • You can have an Abundant Life

  • You can be Free

What are the Lies You tell Yourself?

.

.

You know the song lyrics… “Stop, take a look and listen…”  That’s what we need to do.  Begin to listen to our thoughts, the words in our heads and the words we say out loud.  Once you hear the negative words or the lies that you are telling yourself then you can Stop.

  • I don’t have a choice

  • I’m going nowhere

  • I can’t change my life

  • I don’t have any talent

  • There’s nothing out there for me

  • I’m too tired

  • There’s no hope

  • No one will hire me

  • _____________________

 .

Recognize it for the LIE that it is and then you can STOP!  Stop and change the lies to the truth.

I know I’ve said this before BUT  just in case you forgot – here are some truths about You: 

  • Talented

  • Have a purpose

  • Have a calling

  • Gifted

  • ______________ (You fill in the blank)

.

Begin speaking Truth out loud to yourself everyday!

Put Good In — Good comes Out

 

It is so important what we put into our heart and minds.  We can fill it with goodness and positive thoughts or we can put in ugliness and negativity. Sometimes it is just filling it with mindless, nothingness.  Each day we have 24 hours, some of them are at work, play, home, TV, reading, time with family, and with friends.  We all fill our days differently.  In the same vein those activities are part of what we are ‘feeding’ ourselves everyday.  Watching TV, movies, reading, listening to a wide variety of things, radio, podcast, webinars.

I think that is why the scripture says think on these things: 

whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.  Phil 4:8

.

A number of years ago, when my kids we just toddlers, I used to watch soap operas.  Oh, I enjoyed them, and for a long time, didn’t see anything wrong with them.  However, I began to realize that I was beginning to get restless, and seemed, ummm I’m not exactly sure, but just not content.  

 .

The Lord began speaking to me about making a change.  I wrestled with it a while, but then realized ‘for me’, I needed to stop watching them.  I am not preaching that soap operas are bad, I am just saying that for me, they became a negative influence in my life.  Now, I haven’t missed them, it’s been probably 20 or so years.

.

When we focus on pure, and just, lovely, and good things that is what fills us up.  Therefore, when we speak, that abundance of  ‘good’ things come spilling out.  We become a blessing to others and we uplift and encourage others because of the good things we have spent time thinking about and ‘filling’ up on. 

.

You may have something in your life that is making you less than content in your life, maybe how you talk to others is reflective of what movies you watch, or the books you are reading. 

Sometimes it is good to just take a look and do a little evaluating. You can beat  that if you are spreading time in God’s Word, that more positive and life changing words are coming out when you talk. That is a wonderful thing!

Put Good in – Good comes out! (Or you could say, Put God In, God comes Out =)

This is Thanksgiving week.  There will be celebrations all over the country, lots of meals shared, stories told, and lots of laughter.  This is a time of reflection and many of us make lists.  Here is my partial gratitude list.

.

I am thankful for

  • You , my readers of the blog,  supporters, and encouragers, thanks for staying with me.

  • My great hubby, Bill

  • My kids, Alicia, Justin and my sweet daughter in law, Emily, and granddaughter Caitri

  • My Mother and sister, and her son, Brighton

  • My brother Greg, his wife Paula, and the whole family  

  • All my cousins all around the country, many I have seen in the last few months, and those I haven’t seen in years.  

  • Wonderful friends at church, too many to list, but you all know who you are – I’m sending hugs your way.

  • Pastors at our church who lead us and share God’s Word

  • Friends in KC, again, I can’t make a total list, but know how much I value our friendship

  • Friends of the heart, that we can go months without seeing each other, and still pick up the conversation as if it was yesterday

  • I am thankful for Freedom, living in a country where we can worship freely and openly.  

.

Most of all I am thankful to be a child of God, daughter of the King, and joint heir with Christ.  (Romans 8:17)  

 

Thank you Lord for saving my soul,

Thank You Lord for making me whole

Thank You Lord for giving to me,

Thy great salvation so rich and free

 .

Enter the Promise Land

CELEBRATE! At ’40’ you enter the Promise Land!

.

As I promised here are thoughts on ’40’.  It is a powerful time… 40 days, 40 years, 40, it seems some great things in history were in ’40’.

Facts:

  • Moses was on Mount Sinai for 40 days and nights, on two separate occasions (Exodus 24:18, 34:1 – 28), receiving God’s laws. 

  • He also sent spies, for forty days, to investigate the land God promised the Israelites as an inheritance (Numbers 13:25, 14:34).

  • The prophet Jonah powerfully warned ancient Nineveh, for forty days, that its destruction would come because of its many sins. 

  • The prophet Ezekiel laid on His right side for 40 days to symbolize Judah’s sins (Ezekiel 4:6). 

  • Elijah went 40 days without food or water at Mount Horeb. 

  • God flooded the earth by having it rain for 40 days and nights (Genesis 7:12)

  • Forty days after the birth, Jesus was presented to the Temple of Jerusalem for his legal purification, according to the established law.

  • The 40 days of fasting of Jesus in the desert. (Mt 4,2)

  • Forty days separate the Ascension of Jesus of His Resurrection. (Act 1,3)

So there you go. 40 – THIS is the best! After all the years of growing, trials, learning, etc… at 40 you Enter the Promise Land of your life!

AND that is only the beginning– there is greatness in your life at 50, 60 and on….. We’ll explore those numbers as well.  Any thoughts?
