Love Your Neighbor…

It’s the Christmas season, and as we take time to look round and be grateful, to help others, to share what we have with others, I believe it is also a great time to look at yourself. Yes YOU! – You are a special and beautiful child of God, created for great things.. for Him… For the World. DAH – that IS why He came into the world at Christmas– for YOU, for me, for all of us.

We usually get the … Love Your Neighbor... part correct, but so often I see people forget the next part . . . AS YOURSELF. This isn’t the ego, aren’t I wonderful type of love that I’m talking about. This is love yourself for who you are created to be. Love the gifts and talents you were born with… love yourself. You might need to LIKE yourself.

What can you do today to begin to discover You? What do you want, what do you like. Do you remember the part in The Runaway Bride, when she didn’t know what kind of eggs she liked because she just always chose what her latest fiancée liked? What do you like? What do you want in your life?

As we go into the New Year, let’s explore and discover YOU! What is new for you this year? What do You really want?

Christmas Is A Time to Love – YES it really is. Sharing the love of Christ with family and friends… and all those we meet and connect with as we go along each day.

My kids will both be here this week… Justin is here now and Alicia will be in later this week. We are so blessed!

Hey You.

Do you realize that the world LIES??? Often the world, parents, friends, or teachers may have told you lies. It’s important to realize what they are and catch them before they get to your heart.

.

Here are a few of the lies you may have been told:

You don’t have what it takes
You are not enough
You are not smart enough
You don’t measure up
You’re ugly, stupid, worthless

.

I’d like you to do a little exercise with me. Go find a piece of paper, probably bigger than a post-it. On this paper write the lies that others have told you, or you felt by their attitude toward you. Go ahead. Take a few minutes and write them down. Do it now.

.

READ THE NOTE. SAY OUT LOUD – These are LIES!

I am not stupid. I am not worthless. I am a child of God.
I am not a mistake, God knew me before I was born.
Go on… fill in your blank.
I AM NOT ____________

INSTEAD change it to – I am ___________!

(smart, talented, gifted, special, loved…)

.

These lies are the enemy of our influence and can hold us back. There are a myriad of voices that tell us what to do and what not to do. They only offer choices of fear, comparison, jealousy, insecurity, pride, and control.

.

Now choose You and the truth. Take that piece of paper and destroy it. Burn it, shred it, or throw down the toilet. (This is a powerful visual.) Gone are the lies. This is not who you are or who God created you to be. Did you do it? Did you totally get rid of it? I mean it; don’t hold on to those lies. Do it now!

Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself to others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life. Gal 6:4-5 MSG (www.Biblegateway.com)

It is an understanding that what you do today matters, so give it everything you’ve got. You have a WOW factor! It will give you the courage to step confidently into your God-given sphere of Influence and to step into your God-sized dreams!
