If you want to see a movie, a story about a man, a big boat, a Hollywood interpretation, and enjoyable entertainment, then go see NOAH. Here’s what the description says,
Noah is a 2014 American epic biblical-inspired fantasy film directed by Darren Aronofsky, written by Aronofsky and Ari Handel, and loosely based on the story of Noah’s Ark.
They aren’t claiming it is a anything other than what it is – a “fantasy film”… “loosely based…”
For the Truth, the real story and happenings, read it in the Word – the Bible. That’s where we find the story of Noah. (Genesis 6:8 – 8:17). This is what we can share with those who don’t know the Truth.
There’s a lot of talk about the movie. My hope is that as it raises interest and questions, that it will draw people to the Truth and search for the real story of Noah. My personal review, and only my opinion, is that this is a good movie. Russell Crowe did a great job, as well as the other actors. I’m not overly fond of some of the make up, haircuts, and costumes (sorry but my brain thinks this way). But overall a good show. When ‘they’ say ‘Loosely based…” that is exactly what it is, very loosely.
Here are a few little tidbIts to share.
-
It is almost laughable how they interpret the ‘fallen angels’ and what the story surrounding them.
-
In the movie Noah’s sons were young, and two were not married. (Genesis 7:7: And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood.)
-
The people were evil for sure, no escaping that, and God, ‘The Creator’, was punishing mankind for all the evil.
-
The ruling king in the time was pure evil, he distorted scripture, and many times said he was created in The Creator’s image, and therefore he (the king) was god. His pride and arrogance was astounding. What catches you is that it isn’t subtle, it is in your face. But then again, that is why God brought the flood. The world was evil. Genesis 6:5 The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.

The coolest thing was how they presented the animals coming to the ark. Very cool and made sense. They just came, the birds flocked to the ark in the same way that they know to migrate. The other animals just came. This was probably my favorite part.
It has a lot interesting twists, and certainly doesn’t follow scripture. BUT for a movie it was good. Believers out there, let’s lighten up a little. This is a movie, it’s Hollywood, and people are talking.
Consider this. It gets conversation going, makes people talk, and when they talk they may be looking for answers. We have the opportunity to tell them the truth, point them in the right direction. It gives us a chance to share, and I think that is a good thing.
It’s all in how we look at it. If you want entertainment, a movie, then go see Noah. If you want the real story- the Truth, read the Book =) (Genesis 6:8 – 8:17)
