Stop the Interruptions – or Not?

Sunday our Pastor shared a story about an interruption… and it turned out to be ministry in the truest sense of the word.  A professor shared a thought with him while in Seminary, and it is so true.  Like me, maybe you have heard it before, but it truly resonated with me this time.  “Ministry happens in the interruptions”.  An interruption can be an opportunity to serve.
Let’s think about it.
  • You are headed out of the house … the phone rings and someone has a need. Do we stop and listen?  Do we call back?
  • You are in the middle of something, and an email comes through about someone needing help.  Do we stop and pray, send a card?
  • You are on an airplane ready to read your book or listen to music, and the person next to you begins to share.  Do we pay attention and ‘listen’ to their heart?  Is it a God appointment?
I have been praying the Prayer of Jabez, that the Lord would bless me indeed, expand my territory, and expand my sphere of influence for Him.  (1 Chronicles 4:10) 
The thing is I need to pay attention, become more aware of the interruptions, and be more sensitive to His prompting.  It may just be the blessings He has in mind.  
These may be promptings in our spirits to stop and pray or to reach out to someone.   Sometimes they interrupt our life, our schedule, our plans.  Those interruptions may also be the blessing that God has for us.  The gift that He has planned for you today.

Today is my day – DUH!

I remember it so vividly .. it was a beautiful sunny day in Kansas City, about 8-10 years ago.  I particularly remember the sunshine because it was either January or February, and when the sun came out it made you want to celebrate.  
On that sunny Friday morning, I had one of those special ‘Ah-Ha’ moments…. while I was standing at the bottom of the steps. The kids were at school and Bill was at the office. I didn’t have any appointments, no phone calls to make, and I had no place I HAD to be at any particular time and I was caught up for the moment on the ‘Have to do’ stuff. Imagine that with me… Ahhhh. Doesn’t that feel GOOD!?   Then I had this thought- WOW today is MY day, I can do anything I want.. Big Smile =)
 
Then the ‘Ah-Ha moment.  It was like God whispered, (actually it was God in my spirit) . . . Delinda everyday is YOUR day….You choose how you live it.  WOW! OMGosh!  I was so busy, so caught up in the ‘doing’ of life, that I wasn’t really ‘Being’.  Do you know what I mean?
Of course everyday is my day! Of course, it gets filled up with the ‘stuff’ I fill it up with, I make my calendar, my decisions, choices on how and where and when to spend my time… DUH!
 
Since then, I have tried to remember that each day is ‘MY’ day, given to me by my Creator to live, to love, and to share with others.  When I fill it up just for the sake of filling it up, or if I’m not paying attention and let ‘life’ runaway with me, then it doesn’t leave much time for Joy, or for the things I love to do, or time to spend with the people I love.
 
So today’s thought is this:  
“This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it…”    NOW– what are you going to do with it?

How Great Thou Art in Grand Canyon

Tears, cheers, applause, hearts were touched. God was glorified.
 
It was a special and anointed time in the Grand Canyon.  Sherry g Rambin, had a vision of filming the song How great Thou Art in the Grand Canyon, God’s Cathedral.  It was planned and then it was time. A Saturday in September. Perfect day.  The sun was shining, a gentle breeze, and music.  It happened to be free visitors day and the park was packed.
 
I must admit it was a little . . . scary . . . intimidating . . . but with Sherry’s encouragement I stepped out on the cliff, and began singing.  It was as if I could feel the breath of God shining on my face.  Singing echoed through the canyon. Literally, there were people from all over the world.  They came up and chatted.  Many didn’t speak English, yet they came up, some with tears in their eyes, and they thanked us for the experience.  Several of them heard the music several miles down the canyon at the other bus stops. It was amazing.  It was totally a ‘God thing’.  He did it.  He touched hearts through the music, through His grandeur.  We were the vessels, we were humbled and blessed.
It is my honor, my blessing to share this with you. To God Be the Glory!
