small change
One person CAN
One person CAN make a difference. There are many examples and many stories, Princess Diana and Mother Teresa to just name a few. The question is, do you believe it? Then go one step further, do you believe You can make a difference?
There are those who are make a difference in the world as those mentioned above . . . and those of us who make a difference in ‘our’ world. I don’t know about you but that is what I want. To spend my days with a purpose, to share life with others, and in whatever way I can make a difference to someone, to be a blessing.
We get so many mixed messages. One day you hear that you are special and have gifts to share. Then another day someone says you don’t have what it takes, or that you are worthless, or stupid, ugly, etc.
Which are you going to believe?
I love the saying, God didn’t make any junk. It is true. He made beautiful human beings, His creation, His Chosen, His beloved. Yes, that is you. Don’t shy away from it.
When you listen to the One who created you, and believe in His love for you, then you can believe you are enough and that you can make a difference.
It doesn’t take much, a phone call, a card or letter. Maybe go down and feed the homeless through your church or other organization. Go have a cup of coffee with someone who needs a friend, help a child with homework, babysit for a single mom. All of these things are making a difference. Even if you don’t see it, it matters to that person.
If each of us makes a difference in ‘our’ world, it gets better, and then it spreads as more of us reach out.
This week on my FB page there were several great stories you may want to check out. (facebook.com/delinda.layne)
You have a story, and I’d love to hear about you. Or many tell us how someone made a difference in your life.
Have a Blessed week

I didn’t want to cook…
For some reason I didn’t want to cook on Thanksgiving. Some of my friends would say “What else is new?” (ha ha ) We are ‘over turkey’ and haven’t cooked it for years. Sometimes Bill will order it when we go out, but I love steaks so that is my usual order. When my sister goes out with us, she likes salmon, (which I will never eat). We all like different things.
So we went out – and it was great! We had a super meal at one of our favorite spots, Bill and I both ordered our favorites including sharing a yummy dessert. It’s called ‘Fried Oreos’ and it is a little like a french beignet in taste and texture with crunchy chocolate in the middle… just heavenly! We had a wonderful meal and really enjoyed ourselves.
Fresh and warm ‘Fried Oreos’ with vanilla ice cream
Now here is the interesting part. The next day, on Friday, we went to the grocery store to get a few things. We decided to cook the several side dishes that we like, green bean casserole, dressing, sweet potatoes. Well, I guess we need a meat to go with the sides, right? How about a turkey breast on the grill, that would be different, (well, at least for us as we haven’t ever done it that way). DUH! The bottom line, we cooked the traditional Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday.

So I’ve been wondering why I didn’t want to do it ‘On’ Thanksgiving . . . and here’s what thoughts came to mind. Maybe it’s the extra pressure of having to get up and think about it all. The shopping and planning that you do all week. Start as soon as you get up, all the preparation, wanting it to be just right, etc. When we did it on Saturday, it was just for fun, if the turkey didn’t come out well — Not a big deal, right?
Maybe we put too much pressure on ourselves. Maybe it’s the extra drama, or trying to be perfect, or maybe just wanting to do something different. Ummm, what do you think?
As it turned out we loved our Thanksgiving Day choice, and we loved our dinner on Saturday! It turned out to be a double blessing.
yummmmmmm . . . all gone

As I was reading a post from Jenni Catron, I enjoyed reading her perspective. From Jenni:
It’s usually the day after Thanksgiving that I slow down long enough to reflect and give thanks.
Truth is, sometimes the actual day of Thanksgiving brings out my most ungrateful self.
I anticipate family drama without being thankful that I have family.
I stress out over preparing my house for company rather than being grateful I have a house where I can host.
I get irritated when I forget an item on my shopping list rather than being thankful that I can make a quick trip back to the store.
I fuss over setting the table perfectly rather than being grateful I have a table to set.
The list could go on…

Always something to think about.

QUESTION: What do you think? Do we put extra pressure on ourselves and then not enjoy our time as much as we could?

Blown Away…
In the Grand Canyon, on the first day of filming How Great Thou Art, the wind was blowing 30-ish miles an hour with gusts stronger than that, my hair was blown way off my face, and, to be honest, it took a little coordination just to keep standing on the top of the cliff.
We had several location points where we filmed different sections of the song. As we went from place to place the people gathered. This was a big surprise. As I looked around there were tears in their eyes, and then they clapped. We met people from Sweden, Australia, Germany and France. I was blown away (and this time not by the wind). It was humbling to see how God was using this song in this beautiful backdrop to touch hearts.
There were 4 ladies that had just started their trip, and I wish I knew their names. Somehow God used this time and place to touch them. They were so sweet, and said to us that they loved being at the Grand Canyon, and that they would never forget this particular part of their trip. We hugged and shared, they blessed me. I thought I was just out there to sing and make a video. God had something different in mind.

We never know how God is going to take what we do and say to bless others. When we go through each day He has a plan for us. It might not be in the Grand Canyon singing on top of the cliff, it might be in a doctor’s office, where you work, or in your home with your family. When we open ourselves to God’s blessings, He blesses others at the same time.
Next time, it was a beautiful and glorious day. God touched hearts again.
Blessings! Feel free to share.

I just arrived home. I’m tired, excited, grateful, rejuvenated, overwhelmed, in awe. It was amazing. I’ve never been to any of those places (well, maybe a a young child with my parents, but certainly don’t remember), and I am so thankful for the opportunity. You will see the “How Great Thou Art” video where I sang on the edge of the Grand Canyon. It will premier at the Asheville Conference. (It was QUITE an experience).
In the next few posts I am going to share with you some of the little and big miracles we saw and experienced. We met some great people, shared stories, and felt God’s presence.
Today, however, I am catching up and mainly want to wish each of you a very blessed day and week. God is good. He loves you, and He wants to bless you beyond measure. Blessings come in many forms, some financial, but many times in form of relationships, friendships, passion for your work, or your hobby. He shows Himself in many ways. Keep your eyes and heart open. I know I don’t want to miss anything. How about you?
I will start sharing some stories later in the week.
Until then, may God bless you and touch your life in a powerful way.
